Disney Cancels “Imagination Movers”

May 30, 2011 |  by

The Walt Disney Company has canceled the Disney Jr. show “Imagination Movers” after three seasons on the air. The third season will continue to air on Disney Jr. until all the episodes have been run, plus we’re guessing that re-runs of past episodes will continue to run on the channel for a while.

In recent interviews the guys in the “Imagination Movers” band admitted that they plan on keeping the band up and that they want to continue making music and doing other projects – like maybe a movie or going on tour!

Are you bummed that “Imagination Movers” has been canceled?

This is terrible news! Why would Disney cancel Imagination Movers?? These men teach great lessons to children through song, dance, etc. My 20 month old son LOVES the Imagination Movers and he will be devastated not to see them regularly on TV. Maybe PBS will pick them up? Our fingers are crossed.

  2. Its really hard to believe that Disney could even consider canceling the Movers. Especially after seeing how successful their 2011 IABW Tour was,.. and considering that the Imagination Movers actually have more fans on Facebook than Disney Jr. Mind boggling, isn’t it? Truly makes no sense. If you spend just a few minutes on the Disney Jr page you will find nothing but complaints. Not only about the insanely ridiculous summer schedule, but also fans upset about Disney canceling the Movers,… the only show most kids watch, and most parents. One wonders just how Disney could do such a thing. However, we are supporters of the Movers and will continue to do so without Disney. Movers,.. we love you!

  3. This is a show I love watching with my kids, its so popular I can’t for the life of me figure out why Disney would cancel! There is only 1 dvd out with 4 episodes…I hope they at least release seasons 1-3…my son is going to be devastated. This is his favorite show! Maybe another network can pick them up? We love spending our mornings with the movers.

  4. This is ridiculous – I suppose now we will have to watch ANOTHER rerun of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse instead! Absolutely stupid move on Disney’s behalf – the movers are awesome and have such a loyal and great following. Cannot believe they were so short sighted to cancel this show which provides such great role models.

  5. What a shame. This show was awesome….and the tour was so exciting for my 3 yr old. Sooooo sad….yet they keep all the other cralnkn Disney Junior? Disgusting.

  6. This is horrible news! I don’t understand why Disney is stupid enough to cancel this show. My little boy has loved this show and will be upset when they are no longer showing it. First my friends tigger and Pooh and now this. Makes me want to have him watch another channel.

  7. I just told my four year old daughter that the Movers had been cancelled. Her comment? “Well, from now on, I hate Disney”. Disney – I think you ought to listen to your audience. Going to change the channel to Nick JR.!

  8. I like watching this with my 4-year old. (Dad likes Nina.) They are not even running the old episodes anymore. Wish I would have kept a few more on the DVR than the three I have.

  9. WHAT!! This is my 4 year old son’s favorite show. Thankfully I have 32 episodes saved on our DVR and most of the other episodes burned to dvds. Maybe I should start selling them on eBay. Stupid Disney. My son’s other favorite show is Jungle Junction, and they’ve cut that back to only airing once every week or so just like they did to Movers before they cancelled it. Guess that’s the next show on the chopping block. MICKEY MOUSE CLUB SUCKS!!!!!!

  10. So utterly disgusted that Disney Junior has canceled the Imagination Movers show. What a great group of guys and the only show that is fun for both parents and children to watch. Shame on Disney. We took our son to see their concert and they were fantastic. I find myself switching more and more to Nick Jr b/c I am so tired of Mickey Mouse airing all day long!!! Come on Disney!!!! Let’s all hope the “Movers” show up on another network.

  11. I cannot believe this!!! I have been searching for this show and finally looked on the internet to see what happened. My son LOVES the movers and Nina! Agreed….Shame on Disney!

  12. That sucks! My boys LOVE that show! The situations they get into are fun and creative and the music is actually fun for me to listen to also! They will be very disappointed when they find out. Why would Disney cancel a good show like this one and air something like Kickbuttowski or Fish Hooks. Those shows do not belong on the Disney channel, they are right up there with Sponge Bob and are not allowed in my house.

  13. My family will miss this show. But let’s face it, there weren’t enough easy merchandising opportunities for the show. And given that toys are what REALLY matter to Disney (e.g. Cars 2) I think we can see more poor programming decisions in the future.

  14. I am very disappointed in the cancellation of the Imagination Movers. I babysit two 2 year olds that absolutely love the Movers. Maybe Phineas & Ferb should be cancelled instead!

  15. That is a real shame. My now 6 year had loved that show and was just starting to introduce her younger sister to it. This was one of the few shows that really engaged my girls and taught them as well. They also loved the upbeat music, as do I. It will be missed:(

  16. Please put Movers back on. I was shocked when they stopped the show. My 5 & 7 yr old love their show and music. Why would they do that with all the “trash” that is on tv these days.

  17. I just found out Disney cancelled the Movers. My husband and I are shocked. Oh,our son watches it too. My only consoling thought is that maybe they worked out a deal with the Movers so they have time to work on their band. Disney seems to squeeze their performers for every bit of time so maybe it was an amiable decision.
Disney has always cancelled shows for reasons I don’t get. (Bunnytown anyone?)
All episodes are available on ITunes individually or a bulk purchase of $52 which we will be making as soon as we can.

  18. I wish Disney would disclose the real reason of canceling Imagination movers. This was the only show all my children and I watched with delight on Disney. Now they’ve stopped re-runs altogether as well. Why the animosity? The children enjoy the Nick jr channel and don’t want me to change to anything else.

  19. I am so mad at Disney. My 3 year old has been asking everyday to see the Imagination Movers. I didn’t know what to tell her. Now i see…very bad move Disney. We are definitely watching more Nick Jr now. Hopefully Nick Jr will pick up the Movers. And yes…I too am utterly sick of Mickey Mouse Club House. Movers displayed real people with problems to be solved that kids can relate to. My husband and I loved to watch the show with my little girl. My little girl spoke of Rich, Dave, Smitty, and Scott as if they were family. You have done all children a disjustice, Disney! Shame on you.

  20. I used to work for Disney, back when Disney was all about family and quality. Now they are nothing more than a money grubbing machine, who doesn’t give a rats behind about their customers. Disney channel SUCKS (except for the Movers and the occasional classic Movie). The crap on there is just another attempt to be like the other trash channels.
My 4 year old daughter LOVES this show, as do I. She also talks of the movers like they are family (She calls Dave Uncle Bryan because he looks like my brother).
DISNEY YOU ARE PATHETIC! Walt is rolling over in his grave!!!

  21. I have just learned that Imagination Movers has been cancelled. What is Disney thinking? My 4.5 year old loves this show. She dances to their music and enjoys the plots. Sadly, there are not many shows on TV that teach children lessons. Children are not stupid and need good quality TV to teach lessons. TV should not be a babysitter of garbage shows. Let’s utilize a tool that children and make it something educational if we can. I will now sadly have to PVR some of the Movers shows.

  22. What a disappointment! I too wish I had more episodes on DVR. My two yr old asked specifically for movers and was I ever sad when I couldn’t find any upcoming episodes & then read it was cancelled. Perhaps PBS will be our favorite channel now. Haven’t seen a decent replacement show on Disney Jr yet.

  23. Lorraine Aiken Bubby

Bubby and I are really upset that Imagination Movers is cancelled, it was a great show, what were the execs thinking, oh, I guess they were not or it would not have been cancelled. What is the reasoning behind it? Bring it back, much better than Sponge Bob and some of the other shows we are subjected to.

  24. Unreal! Just discovered the show has been cancelled. Our 2 year old wasn’t asking for it but I was! Not cool, Disney.

  25. I am so sad about this. This is my 2 year old’s favorite show. It is also one of the few that I enjoy watching with him. He has been asking for it everyday! I wish they would get picked up by another channel so we could still watch them. I do like Disney but I don’t understand their programming choices as of late. There is not a single show on Disney that my 2 year old can engage in like he did watching the Movers. Now Jungle Junction is hardly ever on. I just don’t get it. We have kind of switched to PBS just because there is nothing on for him.

  26. I just found out the Movers have been canceled and I am so upset! My son is 2 and a half and the Movers has been one of his fav shows since he was 1. We even took him to see them in concert and he absolutely loved it and still talks about it. I had to wash the concert shirt we bought him everyday so he could wear it everyday for like a month! He’s been asking about watching them so I thought I’d do some researh on-line and just found this devastating news out! I don’t get Disney at all. I am always annoyed with how they change their tv line-up to accommodate older kids who might be out of school, ie summer vacation, and cut back on the disney junior programs. And then to top it off, they air the same shows over and over again back-to-back. Little Einsteins is super annoying and watching marathons of Jake and Mickey Mouse is just as annoying. The Movers rock and if Disney can’t see what an awful mistake they’ve made then I hope some other network picks them up. They will def have a huge following wherever they go. We will continue to listen to their music, see them on tour and purchase their shows on I-Tunes for our son to watch. Bye-bye Disney and good luck keeping an audience with your poor programing choices!

  27. I was really disappointed to find out that Imagination Movers was cancelled. My two year old daughter and I started watching it this past year and I thought it was really cute and a nice break from some of the other shows (I don’t mind some of the others, but did not understand why Mickey had to be on so much and the movers were on once a day). I was all ready for a new season and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t find it in the schedule. Until I looked it up today I even had hopes that it would be on later this year since it shows clips of the movers in your advertisements for the Halloween specials. I too am hoping for dvd episodes or Netflix so at least we can watch reruns. By the way, I don’t like 3rd and Bird.

  28. Aww that is awefull, I thought maybe they just moved the timeslot so I tried to find them on my dvr and couldn’t, no wonder. I wish that I had some recorded for my daughter she loved warehouse mouse and the movers, I liked them too. They ought to get rid of some of Mickey Mouse time slots and give it back to the Movers. Nick Jr here we come

  29. We are SO sad that the MOVERS were cancelled!! That is a bad decision by Disney! My daughter loves the show and will miss it a lot.
I hope, like the others commenters, that they are picked up by someone else –

    Disney – this is shame!!

  30. My family is very upset to see this show has been canceled. Our five year old asked all the time to watch it. There aren’t many cute shows on anymore without violence and they canceled one that was good. Doesn’t make sense…..

  31. At the risk of sounding old, Disney just is not what it used to be. Imagination Movers was one of the only bright spots in the Disney line-up and it has been canceled. My kids loved that show, we went to see them in concert, and have been wondering why our DVR has not been recording episodes.

Maybe PBS will pick them up since our government does a much better job with children’s programming than does the kids’ industry giant Disney.

    One more big disappointment Disney.

  32. Extreamly dissappointed! My son keeps asking about this show! This was one of the only shows on disney that made me laugh and didn’t mind watching with my son. I hope someone else picks them up! If not, we will miss them and look forward to reruns on holidays.

  33. Noooooo!!!! That was a really good show! Disney you suck! My friends tigger and pooh was good too! I think ur cancelling the wrong shows! And mickey mouse makes me want to pull my hair out. Im constantly changing it to nick jr or pbs.

  34. How am I going to explain this to my 2 yr old who loves this show? All he wants to watch is ‘movers’. Disney should reconsider this decision.

  35. This is awful! My daughter (5 years old) has loved the Movers since they started! Her 5th birthday party was Imagination Movers – we made everything from scratch since you couldn’t buy their stuff. All 20 kids at that party knew all the songs we played and all about the Movers. How could Disney not want to keep this show? We’re off to Disney World and all my kids want to do is meet the Movers and see their warehouse!!!! Hopefully this means they’ll tour more at least. Come to Ottawa, Canada!!!! Pleeeeeeease!

  36. aw man! I knew something bad had happened when the reruns stopped airing :( This is a show that actually works for kids of different age/development levels; my 2 1/2 year old gets the basics of the plot and enjoys the semi-slapstick comedy and my 1 1/2 year old is enthralled with the music and dancing…oh, and I don’t personally find it *horridly annoying* like all the animated shows! Third and Bird, have you seen that? SO ANNOYING! But I guess it’s easier to sell toys of animated characters than adult human men.
I’m so tired of other shows being exactly the same, I sure hope the Movers get picked up by another network!

  37. How could this be! Imagination Movers was brilliant. There are so few shows for kids between 3-8 that are good for that age group – even on Disney. We do not want our 6 year old watching iCarly. What a shame. The show was smart, fun, appropriate with great music. And, the “Movers” themselves were standup men that you would want your children to look up to (the work they did in New Orleans). WE can only hope that they will be pick up by another network. The concerts we tremendous – they made a point of going throughout the entire audience to make sure kids in all sections felt special – you can tell they have kids of their own. A HUGE mistake on Disney’s part. Truly a miss. disney should at the very least post a reason for this disaster. My 2 children and their friends are devastated and will support the Movers wherever they land.

  38. How annoying! All my kids love this show! Why they would do this is stupid. If merchandising really is the reason, perhaps they should do some for the show. My kids would love a Warehouse mouse or Mover figurines. They never put any of that stuff out! My kids favorite shows are Little Einsteins and Imagination Movers. We need to start a petition to bring both back!

  39. The show and tour seemed VERY successful! I don’t understand why they would drop the show! I’m so over some of the other shows on Disney. I suppose Little Einsteins is supposed to be better for my kids because it plays classical music? Nooo… my son would MUCH rather see the Movers play their music that was much more upbeat and FUN! I’m so BUMMED! Dumb move Disney!

  40. I’m SO upset about this! We LOVE the Movers in our house! I have an 18 month old and a 4 year old, and I babysit a 3 and 4 year old. The kids just love the Movers and we listen to the CDs all the time. My husband and I love watching them! Since the Movers have been off the air, we’ve been watching PBS almost exclusively. Jake is fun, and the baby loves Mickey, but it doesn’t hold her attention. The Movers was the only show they ALL enjoyed and interacted with. I’m totally kicking myself for clearing out the DVR in anticipation of a new season!! WHY DISNEY!?!? Somebody PLEASE pick them up!

  41. I just hate that Disney just cancelled my beloved show why would they cancel the Imagination Movers they have been the best people of my entire life. How could Disney take away the Movers from me shame on them. I will cancelled Disney and see how they like it that is so very wrong to take off the Imagination Movers they really are the best family that I would take care of. Shame on you Disney for taking away Imagination Movers my beloved show that I ever had loved. How dare you for cancelling the Movers. I take you off Disney and see how you like it. I am so mad at Disney for taking away my Imagination Movers they are my family and I will not let you take them away from me ever again. The Imagination Movers will alway’s be on my side and I will keep the Imagination Movers safe with me. You Are Not Alone Imagination Movers I really do love you Imagination Movers!!! I do love you Rich Scott Dave and Smitty. I really want to meet the Imagination Movers in person I really would love to meet Mover Scott because I am a major fan of Mover Scott, because I am madly in love with him and I want to have his Wobble Goggles to have for my own to keep. You Are Not Alone Mover Scott I really do love so much Mover Scott.

  42. So, so sad. We are watching the new Halloween movers, for the 20th time. We have watched it 5-6 times a day since it came out Friday, 4 days ago. And it’s only 8:15am!!! I truly am lost with the thinking of Disney, or lack of thinking. Fortunately, I have about 34 episodes on DVR. Too bad I can’t put them on DVD. I would love to have them for the car trips.
I hope they continue to tour. Oh, time to restart the movers. So glad I like them too!

  43. it is one of the worst decisions I have evere seen or heared.

  44. This is terrible news! Can’t the toddlers have ONE show that isn’t animated to teach them music and life lessons? Come on Disney! Don’t you know a great thing when you see it?? PLEASE KEEP THEM ON!!!

  45. Deplorable! Our whole family enjoyed Imagination Movers. It got us up and moving every time we watched. American children need these great male role models; boys and girls alike were able to witness friendly, creative, and responsible men who respected each other and females (not to mention small animals like the epic Warehouse Mouse) while displaying creative ploblem solving and critical thinking skills. What gives, Disney? Your audience deserves a response even if you won’t take our opinions into consideration.

  46. I have two little girls who will be devasted by this! As am I! We LOVE the Movers in our house. We have been wondering why they haven’t been on. Bad BAD move Disney.

  47. I am so sad Disney cancelled Movers It is hard to understand how they could be so stupid to do so unless the movers wanted out and they just are not saying though if that was the case wouldn’t they just say that since they r getting lots of mad mail so it must of been there dumb decision, My kids love them and they r missed come on disney at least put season 1,2 and 3 on dvd so we fans have something to appease the kiddies with.

  48. This is a terrible move by Disney. My 5 year old has loved this show since she was 3. This is one of the few shows that taught morals and values on the Disney channel. They would rather air crap like Fish Hooks that is a crude show. We took her to the live show which was sold out. 4 shows sold out in 2 days back to back in Chicago. I bet it was about money more than anything. The only other show worth watching on Disney now is Phineas and Ferb.

  49. This is horrible! My son loves the movers! It’s all we listen to in the car and really the only show we watch on TV! It’s not bad enough that Disney changes what is on in the morning every day now they are canceling the best show they have. For what? 3rd and Bird? Really? Even my 2 1/2 year old things its a bad show. I hope the movers find a network that appriciates them. We will follow them anywhere!

  50. I really don’t get this. My 3 yr. old grandson & I looked forward to watching the Movers everyday. What a loss! What’s going on with Disney? It would be great to find them on PBS.
