Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” was a kid-friendly retelling of the popular Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, but a new “Little Mermaid” movie is on the way that is set to be a much darker version of the story. The movie is set to be released by Sony and will be titled “Mermaid: A Twist on the Classic Tale,” which is based on a book by Carolyn Turgeon. The movie will be written and directed by Shana Feste (“Country Strong”).
The new movie will be about a princess who sets off to marry the prince of her rival kingdom in order to save her people, however a mermaid has also fallen for the prince and has sacrificed everything to be with him. So…who will win the guy in the end?
On May 27th Ashley Tisdale was spotted looking absolutely beautiful making her way into the restaurant Beso in Hollywood, California. Ashley was meeting up with a friend for dinner and was wearing an adorable short dress paired with a long-sleeve jacket. Ashley added a bit of spunk with a hot pink purse! Ashley recently went on a short promotional tour for her Disney movie “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure” which is out on Blu-ray and DVD. The movie also aired on the Disney Channel last weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is bringing back the popular animated movie “The Lion King” to theaters in 3D on September 16, 2011. The movie was released back in 1994 and has remained a favorite classic Disney movie for many Disney fans, enough so that Disney believes bringing the movie back to theaters will bring them the big bucks.

Here is the first still of the character Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald) to be released from Disney/Pixar for the upcoming movie “Brave.” The animated movie will release to theaters on June 22, 2012 and stars the following actors’ voices:
