Marvel Comics Announces John Carter: World Of Mars

Marvel Comics has announced a four-issue prequel series to “John Carter of Mars.” The prequel is titled “John Carter: World Of Mars.” Readers will get to see into the past of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ “John Carter” characters before Walt Disney Pictures releases the movie “John Carter” on March 9, 2012.

“John Carter: World Of Mars” is being written by author Peter David and the artwork is being done by Luke Ross. Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso released the following statement about the new series:

We’re thrilled to bring fans their first look at the world of John Carter before the blockbuster film wows audiences next year. It’s been a pleasure working with Disney, Peter and Luke to craft a powerful story that will appeal to both the legions of John Carter fans and those who are new to this exciting world.
