Percy Jackson In “The Son Of Neptune” Arriving October 4, 2011 – And Don’t Forget Olympian Week!

August 18, 2011 • By

On October 4th the next book about Percy Jackson, “The Son of Neptune,” will arrive in stores! Disney Publishing Worldwide has announced that they will be printing an unprecedented 3 million copies of the novel, by Rick Riordan, for the release. Disney has also announced the launch of the first-ever Olympian Week – a seven-day, coast-to-coast celebration of Rick Riordan and his Heroes of Olympus series!

Here is what Suzanne Murphy, the VP and Publisher of Disney Publishing Worldwide, had to say:

Rick Riordan has created one of the most iconic characters in children’s book history with Percy Jackson. Children, booksellers, librarians, and fans everywhere are eagerly awaiting Percy’s return, and we believe that will propel The Son of Neptune to be the biggest book of the fall for young readers.

On October 1st you can celebrate the release of the book at Greeley Square in New York City and you can do the same on October 2nd at The Grove in Los Angeles. When you attend the celebratory events be sure to dress up as your favorite character and get ready for festivities that include performances and readings by characters from the series! You can learn more at HeroesofOlympus.com.

Also, a bunch of bookstores and libraries throughout the US and Canada entered for a chance to win an event with Rick Riordan – here are the winners who will be hosting an event during Olympian Week:

- A Whale of a Tale/Mission Viejo Library (Mission Viejo, CA)
- Barnes & Noble (Burlington, MA)
- BookPeople (Austin, TX)
- Books-A-Million (Columbia, SC)
- Indigo (Toronto, Canada)
- Penguin Bookshop (Pittsburgh, PA)
- Tumwater Timberland Library/Orca Books (Olympia, WA)

Let us know if you celebrate the arrival of “The Son Of Neptune” and if you pick up a copy of the book when it hits shelves!
