Before Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney created the character Oswald The Lucky Rabbit, and a lost Oswald cartoon has been discovered! The cartoon is titled “Hungry Hobos” and it will be up for auction on December 14, 2011.

The Huntley Film Archives found the cartoon earlier this year, and it is believed to be the only known surviving copy. The company plans to use the money raised from the auction to help preserve the rest of its library of archives. It is expected that the cartoon will be sold for around $30,000 to $40,000.

In addition, “Hungry Hobos” aired one day before the first trial screening of Disney’s next character Mickey Mouse in 1928.
