David Archuleta Putting Off Music For A Two-Year Mormon Mission

December 20, 2011 • By Home

David Archuleta made a special announcement while performing at his My Kind Of Christmas Tour in Salt Lake City, Utah – he will be taking a two-year hiatus from music to serve a two-year Mormon mission. Watch the video below to watch David’s emotional announcement to his supportive fans.

David is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he will be placed at a mission church where he will serve for two years time, with limited contact with anyone – including his family. David is permitted two phone calls per year, both to his parents. One call is made on Christmas and the other on Mother’s Day. Mormon missionaries do not receive a salary, but rather they pay for the mission themselves.

We’re going to miss David during the time that he is gone, but we support his decision to do what is best for himself. What are your thoughts on this?
