ABC Family Channel Jane By Design Style Challenge #4

We are competing in the ABC Family Channel Jane By Design Style Challenge to help raise awareness for the new ABC Family show “Jane By Design” set to premiere on the channel on January 3, 2012. We just completed Challenge #4! Here’s what it was:

“The holidays are upon us. Your gift? You’ve made it to the next phase of the interview process. And while you may be in the mood to take some time off, there’s one thing you need to remember—fashion never takes a vacation. In an instant, a ‘fashion don’t’ can become a ‘fashion do.’ If you’re out of the loop, you’ll be out of a job. So wake up and pay attention.

Fashion happens when reinvention is combined with exceptional vision. Look inside your trunk and take out the holiday sweater. You see something for your grandmother. Now look again. What do you see now? You must use every ounce of creativity you have to turn the holiday sweater into something special. Something spectacular. I don’t care if you use scissors or glue, your fat jeans or a slice of stale fruitcake. Turn that sweater into something fresh & exciting that could be the next big trend for Holiday 2012.

When you think you’ve created something innovative and amazing, whether it’s a bracelet or a mini skirt, post before and after photos to your blog, along with a step-by-step description of how you came up with your creation. Ask your readers to share their own inspired creations here and mention the name of your blog.

If you truly want to have a happy holiday season, you must hope against hope that you have the vision it takes to impress me. Otherwise, it’s quite possible that this will be our last correspondence.

So, here’s the holiday sweater:

We all know that person that has been wearing the same Christmas sweater every year during the holidays since you’ve know them (and it might even be you!). Now, we have a solution for that! The Christmas Sweater Photo Album or Scrapbook! Every year when the holidays are over you can take your used holiday outfit and turn it into the cover for a photo album or scrapbook. That way, you can not only keep the memories of that year’s holiday party in the book, you can also keep the memories on the outside of the book. This will make a great conversation piece at future parties and doesn’t have to just be for the holidays! It can be for birthdays, halloween, or anything else you want to remember!

All we did is cut off enough of the sweater to cover the front and back of our photo album. Then, we removed some of the buttons and beads from the rest of the sweater and used them to put the year in the corner, so we’ll never forget which holiday season we participated in the Jane By Design Style Challenge!
