“The Hunger Games” Sequel Movie “Catching Fire” Is Almost Written
“The Hunger Games” doesn’t hit theaters until March 23, 2012 but the sequel movie “Catching Fire” is almost written! The first draft of the script for the second film was just finished, and now Suzanne Collins, author of “The Hunger Games” book series, is going to give her opinion on it.
Here’s what screenwriter Simon Beaufoy revealed to E! News about whether or not the script stays true to the novel:
Things always do have to change otherwise there’s always something very flat about very faithful adaptations. But on the other hand, there’s an extremely loyal fan base and readership and you just have to be careful of how many liberties you do take. So fortunately Suzanne is here to help me. She’s reading this draft at the moment and she’ll tell me, ‘You can’t do that. You must do this.’ Because there are some things that are sacrosanct to her readers and she knows them very well and she’ll let me know.
“Catching Fire” is currently expected to arrive in theaters on November 22, 2013! We’ll keep you posted!
You cant cut the following things:
1. The whipping scene with Gale
2. The electrical fence scene with Katniss’s injured foot.
3. The Nightmares between Peeta and Katniss
4. The Victory Tour(duh)
5. Focus on Finnick
6. Focus on the clock
Acceptable cuts:
1. The focus on Avoxes(except for Darius, he is important)
2. The focus on The new Head Peacekeeper
3. Cray
4. The drinking scene with Katniss and Haymitch
