Sarah Hyland Opens Up About Her Kidney Transplant
Sarah Hyland was diagnosed with Kidney Dysplasia when she was 9-years-old, and many daily activities have been painful for her, especially on the set of ABC’s “Modern Family” where she stars as Haley Dunphy. Sarah revealed the story in the new issue of Seventeen Magazine, and she also spoke with ABC’s “Good Morning America” about it. Here’s what Sarah revealed to GMA:
I would be in a lot of pain a lot of the time. If I didn’t get, like 12 hours of sleep — It felt, like, none at all. I try and make it so that Haley is always sitting down. If you notice, she’s always sitting down a lot…or leaning and texting. When Haley walks up the stairs that’s like my work out for the week. You know, if you’re sick, you still go to work. And in between takes, you sit down, or you lay your head down or something.
Luckily Sarah’s father was a perfect match and was able to give Sarah his own kidney. Sarah’s boyfriend Matt Prokop has been a huge help to her during the recovery process – aww! Be sure to let us know if you pick up a copy of the Seventeen Magazine issue and read more about Sarah’s story!
