Why Did David Henrie Decide Not To Act In “The Wizards Return: Alex Vs. Alex”?
David Henrie did not participate in the upcoming Disney Channel “Wizards Of Waverly Place” special, and he opened up to Glamaholic Magazine about why he made the decision to sit the special out. David revealed:
I did not participate in the TV movie for several reasons. One of the reasons was that there were conflicting dates with a film I was doing called ’1000 to 1.’ Wizards did so much for me and I am so grateful for the fan base it built up. My dream has always been to entertain audiences acting in feature films, so I hope that my fan base will cross over with me as I move into the next stage of my career in feature films. When the show ended, I did what you’re supposed to do when something ends – I moved on to new, fresh, challenging roles. I’ve been blessed to be a part of three feature films coming out next year: Little Boy, 1000 to 1: The Cory Wiessman Story, Grown Ups 2. Naturally, after the show had wrapped, I moved right along, jumping into these mature projects, which were all around my actual age-range and elevated my game. When I heard the idea of a Wizards movie taking place after being wrapped for over a year and a half, I came to the conclusion that jumping back into the Wizards world didn’t feel like a fresh and challenging role that would progress my career.

I dont think it was that bad of a thing, They marked your charecter in the movie as “busy Being head master of wizard school” Which makes sense and there probably going to move on from wizards The cast probably missed seeing you but understanded I wish you luck in your new achievements and god bless
I totally understand. I would want to move on to new things, but he could have had a small role just to show that he still appreciated them. I get it and I won’t hold it against him, but it would have been great to see him and Selena have a sibling squabble one more time
Bad idea. I noticed it right away, i was looking at the names of the cast in the beggining. Staring: Selena Gomez, Jake T. Austin *my head* why was Max’s name before Justins? He is a bigger charecter! I keep looking, reading every name, c’mon! David Henrie, David Henrie replaying in my head until i see it on the screen…. But I don’t. Not seeing Staring: David Henrie on the cast list ruined it all. When I saw “Welcome Home Justin!” On the sign in the beggining, I thought oh, maybe I just missed his name! …Nope. Alex calls Justin for help, “YES MAYBE HE IS IN IT!” Nope. Vioce Mail. Not even a replay of when ge has said his name in an episode before. Grwon Up? Real “maturity” is being there for your fans. No matter what movie I will see you in in the future, I would still think of you as “Justin” now I will think of you “as David Henrie, who let down his fans, tv family, and the whole new premiere just so he could act grown up.” He obviously doesnt no what maturaty is. I didnt think that episode in the summer was goodbye. I thought this episode would be. But no, so goodbye Justin Venchenzo Pepè Russo. Oh wait… Or should I say… David.
I think that is the most selfish ego-trip I’ve heard in a while. I am 30, and made a point to see the reunion special. I got hooked on the show from the beginning, watching it with my nieces, and never missed an episode. The reunion was exciting, and he let his ego stop him from touching base with the fans that got him started. I’ll admit, I’m not going to be following his career anymore because of this. He’s lost a fan.
