Debby Ryan And Brenna Whitaker Cover Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”
Debby Ryan and Brenna Whitaker covered Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and created a fabulous video to go along with their cover! Here’s what Debby shared along with the video, which you can watch below:
“Halloween was leaving a spooky vibe as the winter rolled in, and this song was everything. We planned out all we needed to cover it, but were really holding on the right vocalist to bring their steez with me. It had to be someone who was just as crazy about Stevie Wonder as us, but who wasn’t afraid to bring their own flavour to the song.
Brenna Whitaker has been headlining Jazz Night with her Little Big Band every Sunday in the world famous W Hollywood hotel for 2 years. Insanely legendary guest performers from Michael Buble to Gladys Knight, and everyone in between have been known to grab the microphone!
I became a fan of Brenna coming up on Halloween and knew she would be the ultimate dream pick. She heard my Taylor Swift cover, came over to my table at intermission during Jazz Night, & invited me to sing on stage one week. I told her that there was no way, that it was terrifying & I would die. But I brought up Superstition, she was in, & I asked if she was free Tuesday. And there it went.
-Chase produced & recorded what you hear
-Debby produced & directed what you see, then did the arrangement with Brenna.
-Austin Farmer shot the video
-His brother Heath played the guitar [including percussing on it!] with help of magic pedals to loop and layer the sounds.
Special thanks to the legend Bobby Montez for Jazz Night magic, my wingman Brian Dales for the introduction, Larry Walker for helping me channel my vocal funk, & mom for the food.”
