In my opinion it’s definitely not about Harry. The line “flew me to places I’d never been” doesn’t reference the act of actually flying around America, rather taking her to places she hadn’t been emotionally or otherwise places she hadn’t been in a relationship. In the song she also talks about how the joke was on her, that this love interest never loved her or anyone or anything else (referencing a rather cold person) and in the lines “no apologies, he’ll never see you cry/pretends he doesn’t know that he’s the reason why/you’re drowning, you’re drowning, you’re drowning…” and “a new notch in your belt is all I’ll ever be” she’s describing a person that didn’t care about her, and seriously hurt her and you can tell by the video that this person changed who she was, and that she might not have liked who she was when she was with him. Now, ask yourselves this: would Taylor really give this guy–a guy that she recognizes was a huge mistake from the start–another chance? I highly highly doubt it. My money’s on Mayer, but like I said, it’s all speculation. Maybe some clues point to Harry, but I really think Taylor has made it pretty clear through these lyrics that she wouldn’t make the same mistake here twice.
It’s not about Harry. She hadn’t even started hanging out with him when it was written and recorded! And the “flew me to places I’ve never been” line is obviously figurative. This is ridiculous.
It is about harry styles because HELLO she is famous for her boyfriends because she makes songs about they’re relationship.
It can’t be about Harry because the album it was on came out before they dated (if they did)!
