Taylor Swift Confirms That “I Knew You Were Trouble” Is About Harry Styles
During a recent interview Taylor Swift confirmed speculation that her track “I Knew You Were Trouble” is about her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles. Taylor wrote the song after the duo broke up the first time, and she released it while they were back together. Then, Taylor had to perform it after they broke up again when both she and Harry attended the BRIT Awards!
Taylor spoke with the Sunday Times Magazine about what it’s like to perform her emotional music:
You’re balancing the analytical side of your brain which is telling you where to go and how to go there, with the other side of your brain, which is saying ‘Feel everything you’re singing, and show it on your face. Feel everything exactly as you felt it when you wrote the song.’
And when Taylor was asked if she would feel awkward to perform the track with the person it was written about in the audience she responded with:
Well, it’s not hard to access that emotion when the person the song is directed at is standing by the side of the stage watching.

She’s a great performer and she always performs great. She’s always good on the stage. She’s been doing it a long time. She knows what she’s doing on stage. It was just another good Taylor Swift performance. It was good.
