Demi Lovato appeared on “Good Morning America” this week, and on the show she opened up about her father’s passing. Demi’s dad, Patrick Lovato, died at the age of 54 and while he and Demi were estranged at the time of his passing she’s still really upset about losing her dad.
Here’s what Demi revealed during her interview:
I’m handling it OK. My father and I didn’t have the most ideal relationship but at the end of the day he’s still my dad. I grew up with him and he’s a wonderful person, but I’m handling it OK. It’s difficult, but I’m handling it OK.
Demi also opened up about the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program she started:
I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. My father dealt with mental illnesses and he wasn’t able to function in society and that happens to a lot of people.
Demi’s program will help pay for someone’s treatment expenses at Cast Recovery.
Demi also spoke about how her fans have helped her through this difficult time:
It’s been a really rough week, but I’ve had incredible support from them and they can help me get through anything.
Our thoughts are with Demi and her family.
