Usher Calls Justin Bieber’s Music Mondays His “Artist Moment”
Justin Bieber wrote and recorded a bunch of tracks during his Believe tour, but he is only releasing a select few tracks during his Music Mondays series. Each of the songs Justin is releasing is heartfelt, and about the drama he has been dealing with this year.
Justin’s manager Scooter Braun was unsure if releasing these songs was the best idea for Justin, rather than compiling the radio hits he wrote and recorded onto a new album and releasing that instead. However, Justin’s mentor Usher convinced Scooter that Justin needed to have his “Artist Moment.”
Scooter opened up to Billboard:
He wrote these songs on the road. He paid to bring his engineer out. He recorded some of these songs in bedrooms and hotel rooms — he got it done wherever he could do it, because every night he wanted to write and express himself… And like I said, he has the big, international dance records, but he was very insistent that that’s not what this body of work is. Even myself, I had a moment there where I wasn’t sure, should we be doing this? But both Justin and Usher really helped me understand it. Usher called me up and we were talking about it, and he said, ‘Scooter, artists need to have an ‘artist’ moment. Otherwise, we’ll go crazy.’ And I think this is Justin’s moment of truly being an artist and sharing who he is.
Justin is releasing a new track tonight titled “Hold Tight.” Be sure to check out iTunes at midnight!
