Disney is currently working on a Broadway adaptation of “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. According to reports a Broadway workshop is taking place this month to work out all of the details for the play!

The Hunchback Of Notre Dame” will premiere later this year at La Jolla Playhouse. The musical previously debuted in Germany, but this is the first time it will be performed in the US.

“the Hunchback Of Notre Dame” on Broadway was written by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Here’s what La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley had to say about the play:

With great anticipation, I look forward to collaborating with the powerhouse creative team of Alan Menken, Stephen Schwartz, Peter Parnell and Scott Schwartz to bring Victor Hugo’s classic story to life. I am particularly intrigued by the musical’s themes of love and aloneness, obsession and heroism – themes that still resonate with our audiences today. Like Peter and the Starcatcher, this potent new work explores new theatrical forms, one of the hallmarks of the Playhouse’s mission.

We can’t wait!
