Austin Mahone The Secret Sales

Oh no! Austin Mahone was on the path of releasing a full-length album this November, however it looks like that might no longer be the case. Austin just released his EP album “The Secret,” and the sales did NOT make Republic Records happy.

Republic Records executive Avery Lipman even opened up to the press about the disappointing sales of Austin’s album, something that isn’t the norm when an artist releases a CD:

The kid can close down any mall in America, but we are struggling to sell a meaningful amount of records. It sounds good, looks good; goes right in the weeds.

Austin only sold 46,000 copies of the EP album in its first week and 8,000 copies the second week.

Here’s Austin’s “The Secret” track list:

1. Till I Find You
2. Next To You
3. Mmm Yeah (featuring Pitbull)
4. Secret
5. Can’t Fight This Love
6. All I Ever Need
7. The One I’ve Waited For (Bonus Track)
8. Shadow (Acoustic Version) [Bonus Track]

In our opinion fans aren’t very interested in buying full albums anymore. Instead fans wait for the singles to arrive and download those tracks individually, or better yet wait for the music video to arrive and watch that online.

Fans are getting smarter, and while they want to hear all of the songs artists release, they know that only the best of the best will become singles and release to the radio. Those are usually fans’ favorite songs off of the albums, so why buy the whole CD when you can just download the best tracks?
