Disney’s “Pinocchio” voice actor Dick Jones has passed away. He was 87-years-old and he passed after falling at his home near Los Angeles, California.
Dick voiced Pinocchio when he was just 11-years-old. Since working on “Pinocchio” he also starred in a number of movies and TV shows.
When Dick worked on “Pinocchio” he had to record his voice while wearing Pinocchio’s clothes so that the animators could capture his movements and facial expressions. He told the Desert News back in 1971:
It was very exciting just being there. I mean, every kid knew Walt Disney and his characters — Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy. Finally, Walt had us back after lunch and said I was going to be the voice. I was really thrilled. That was something Walt enjoyed doing, hiring an actor personally for a part.
Our thoughts are with Dick’s family during this tough time.
