Disney’s “StarStruck” DVD Review

June 8, 2010 |  by  |  No Comments

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has released the hit Disney Channel Original Movie “StarStruck” to DVD. When you head to the store to pick up the movie, you can either buy a single disc DVD or a 2 disc set that includes the DVD of “StarStruck” plus the Full Length Soundtrack CD.

Both DVD’s include a never-before-seen, exclusive extended scene and additional music with eight Rock-Along tracks and three music videos!

We are huge Sterling Knight fans and were so excited to see him starring in his own movie after playing such an important role in the film “17 Again” alongside Disney alum Zac Efron. In “StarStruck” Sterling plays the ever popular singing sensation Christopher Wilde who is to the girls in the movie what Justin Bieber is to most of you!

However, there is one character, Jessica Olson (Danielle Campbell), who is not a fan of Christopher’s, and as suave as he is, he just can’t seem to win her over…especially not since the way they met was Christopher slamming a door in Jessica’s face!

While Jessica wants nothing more than to be away from Christopher, in typical paparazzi style, the photographers wont let them exit alone and the two are forced to drive away together! Christopher then spends the night in Jessica’s grandmother’s garage to steer clear of the paparazzi and when Jessica comes looking for him in the morning you can tell she is disappointed that he has already left. Does this mean she is warming up to him?

That day Jessica and her sister head off to the beach, which is beautiful in California. Jessica meets up with Christopher again there – he hasn’t made it home yet – so the two take Jessica’s grandmother’s car, which is hot pink and awesome, and try again to get Christopher home without being spotted. If he is spotted his next movie deal will be canceled, and neither Christopher or his parents want that!

Sadly, Christopher and Jessica take a wrong turn and get Jessica’s grandmother’s car stuck in the mud, oh yea, and then it sinks! In the process, the two get to learn a lot about each other – and they both seem to be falling for each other – awww!

Well. That was short lived. Turns out in order to assure that his movie deal is safe, he tells the media that he never spent time with Jessica. Ouch!

Will Jessica be able to forgive Christopher for this? You’ll have to pick up a copy of the DVD to find out!

Danielle Campbell “StarStruck” Interview

June 5, 2010 |  by  |  2 Comments

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing the Disney Channel Original Movie “StarStruck” to DVD on June 8th and they recently sent us an interview they did with actress Danielle Campbell – check it out below:

Hi Danielle! What can you tell us about your new movie?

“StarStruck is a movie with a great, little love twist. I play a character called Jessica – and the movie’s story is all about her falling for a pop star, played by Sterling Knight. I think the movie’s going to have everyone laughing because it’s funny and it’s really, really sweet.”

How would you describe your character?

“Jessica is really down to earth and sweet. She’s not obsessed with fame, but her sister is. In fact, her sister is obsessed with Christopher Wilde – who is the pop star played by Sterling in the movie. She’s a huge fan of his!”

Are you similar to Jessica in any way?

“Well, I can really relate to Jessica because I’m new to Hollywood, just like she is in the movie. Hollywood is a whole new world to me!”

Do you live in Hollywood?

“I live in Chicago, but I’ve been flying back and forth to LA a lot recently. Los Angeles is a really fun town. There is a lot to do there, so I’ve been enjoying seeing the sights and exploring the landmarks.”

What do you like the most about Hollywood?

“All of the people in LA are really nice and it’s sunny all the time. Plus, there’s so much to do there. You can go hiking in the hills, you can go swimming in the ocean, you can go surfing… You can do everything. Oh, and the food is amazing!”

What’s the worst thing about Hollywood?

“Well, it rarely rains in Hollywood – and I love the rain. There are ups and downs to anywhere in the world, but I get frustrated without any rain.”

How much fun did you have working with Sterling Knight on StarStruck?

“Sterling is a lot of fun. He kept everyone laughing the whole time he was on set and he has this great way of keeping everyone’s energy up. We bonded really well and we loved to tease each other.”

What did you tease him about?

“He’s not a morning person at all. In fact, you can’t speak to him in the morning. He hates it, so I’d always try to get him into heavy conversations as soon as he got to work. It was always funny to see him struggling with words over breakfast!”

Can you tell us any secrets about Sterling?

“Sterling is obsessed with cars. He loves them to bits. We were in a Ferrari the other day and he was literally drooling over the car. It’s crazy! It’s his biggest obsession.”

Let’s talk fashion, Danielle… Are you a fan of your character’s outfits in StarStruck?

“Jessica is really girlie, which is pretty similar to me – but she wears a lot of pink and I’m not the biggest fan of that color. I’m pretty casual, just like Jessica – but I think she wears more dresses than I do.”

How would you describe your personal sense of style?

“I love wearing jeans. I live in them! You’ll always find me wearing jeans, boots and a T-shirt – but I’m trying to get into fashion more and I want to play around with it. It’s fun to play with fashion and clothes.”

What’s the best item in your wardrobe right now?

“My favorite jeans are the best thing in there. I wear them everywhere and I love them to bits. They’re amazing!”

And what’s the worst thing in there?

“Ooh, let me think… [Danielle pauses for a few seconds] I’d probably say it was a sweater that my grandma gave me. Sorry grandma, but it doesn’t even fit me!”

Is your wardrobe full of designer clothes now that you’re famous?

“No way! I’ve got a few designer things in there, but not many.”

Who is your fashion icon?

“I love Blake Lively. She’s one of my favorite actresses and she’s got a really classy and beautiful look. She’s somebody that I really look up to and follow.”

After starring in your own movie, have you attended many glamorous red carpet events?

“I haven’t! I’m still waiting to walk a red carpet. I’m patiently waiting, but I know I’ll get to do one some day.”

Are you nervous about your first red carpet event?

“To be honest, I’m more excited than nervous. I get excited about everything! I’m excited about auditions, I’m excited about working and I’m excited about visiting Hollywood all the time. I couldn’t be happier!”

Have you always wanted to be an actress?

“I never really pictured myself as an actress. I just fell into the industry when I was 10 years old.”

How did you get your big break?

“I was getting my haircut in Chicago when someone approached my mom. They asked me to audition for an agency and it all started from there. I hadn’t even performed in any school plays or anything like that, so it was pretty amazing to be picked up like that.”

So what’s your top tip to acting success?

“I think it’s all about working hard and learning as much as possible about acting. I took acting classes and I’m always trying to improve myself. Everyone can improve and the more you work in the industry, the better you are going to feel about it.”

Do you have any audition tips for youngsters who want to follow in your footsteps and act?

“Be yourself. It’s important to get into character when you’re performing a scene, but it’s also important to be yourself when you’re meeting people at castings. Put yourself into the character’s shoes and really follow your instinct when you perform the scene, but it’s fine to be yourself once the scene is over.”

Is it natural to be nervous at auditions?

“Some people get really nervous, but others don’t. It’s completely random. If nerves hit, you’ve just got to work through them and be confident with yourself. Oh, and stay positive.”

Before we go, we’ve got one last question… Would you like to see a StarStruck 2?

“Of course I would! I think that would be really cool. I have no idea what we could do in a second movie, but there have been loads of great sequels and I’d love to be part of one. Count me in!”

Disney Channel Original Movie StarStruck Movie Review

March 4, 2010 |  by  |  19 Comments

Let us just start by saying how much we LOVED the Disney Channel Original Movie “StarStruck” starring Sterling Knight and Danielle Campbell.

The movie is about popular singing sensation Christopher Wilde, played by Sterling, who all of the teenage girls obsess over – including Sara Olson – sister to Jessica Olson, played by Danielle.

Jessica is fed up with her sisters’ obsession with Christopher, so when she meets him she is not too pleased – not to mention they met because Christopher was hurrying out of the building and slammed the door smack into Jessica’s head! But while Jessica may want to leave Christopher as soon as possible, because of the paparazzi the two are forced to drive away together – straight to the doctors so they can make sure Jessica is okay!

After trying to avoid the photogs all day, Christopher ends up spending the night in Jessica’s grandmother’s garage until the early morning when he is able to sneak away. When Jessica realizes Christopher has left early she is disappointed and realizes she doesn’t dislike him as much as she thought she did!

When Jessica and her sister take a trip to the beach that day she meets up with Christopher again and the two take Jessica’s grandmother’s car (a super cute pink automobile – which truly compliments Sterling!) on an adventure as they try to get Christopher back home – without getting his picture taken, because if he does then his next movie deal will be canceled.

After taking a wrong turn and sinking the super cute pink car in the mud, and learning a lot about each other in the process, Jessica and Christopher realize that the other is not as bad as they originally thought. While Christopher can’t seem to understand why Jessica isn’t swooning over him like the other girls, he realizes that he likes her for that. Jessica on the other hand comes to see Christopher for who he really is, not just the celebrity on the surface that all the other girls love.

But will the two end up together? Christopher makes that nearly impossible when, in order to keep his movie deal, he tells the media that he has never met Jessica – yikes!

Actors in StarStruck include:

- Sterling Knight as Christopher Wilde
- Danielle Campbell as Jessica Olson
- Maggie Castle as Sara Olson
- Brandon Smith as Stubby
- Chelsea Staub as Alexis Bender
- Matt Winston as Alan Smith
- Toni Trucks as Libby Lam
- Beth Littleford as Barbara Olson
- Dan O’Connor as Dean Olson
- Alice Hirson as Grandma Olson
- Lauren Bowles as Sherry Wilde
- Ron Pearson as Daniel Wilde
- Hugh Dane as Howard
- Sunkrish Bala as Dr. Sanjay Lad
- Abbie Cobb as AJ

We loved watching the StarStruck movie and we loved the music too – we really thought it complimented the story and we love that a lot of the songs were performed by the actors in the Disney Channel movie.

While we were watching StarStruck we couldn’t help but think that Sterling and Danielle look like they could become the next Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. But perhaps this is just because we knew Sterling had tried out for Zac’s part in the Disney Channel Original Movie “High School Musical.”

We know that a lot of you watched StarStruck, and we’ve heard that you loved it – but we want to hear more about why you loved it! So be sure to comment and let us know!
