Disney Channel Original Movie “Geek Charming” Arrives On DVD

February 8, 2012 |  by  |  1 Comment

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has released the Disney Channel Original Movie “Geek Charming” to DVD! The movie stars real-life couple Sarah Hyland (“Modern Family”) and Matt Prokop (“High School Musical 3: Senior Year”). Check out the “Geek Charming” movie trailer below.

Here’s a description of the movie from the Disney Channel:

“When Dylan Schoenfield (Sarah Hyland), Woodlands Academy’s top girl, accidentally drops her expensive ‘it’ handbag into the mall fountain, she is surprised that film geek, Josh Rosen (Matt Prokop), retrieves it for her. In exchange for rescuing her bag, Dylan must agree to be the subject of Josh’s documentary film. Dylan hopes the film will help her campaign for Blossom Queen – she claims that winning is her only life goal. Josh plans to make a hard-hitting expose about popularity, but, as he gets to know Dylan, he learns that the real Dylan is much more interesting than the persona she’s created. At the last minute, Josh decides that his film should introduce this awesome girl to the world, but how will Dylan react when she sees it?”

The DVD also includes 10 episodes of the Disney Channel Original Series “Shake It Up” AND a collectible charm set!

“Geek Charming” was a perfect movie from the Disney Channel. It had a “High School Musical” vibe and many of the scenes were shot like Sarah’s ABC show “Modern Family,” with close-ups on the characters talking straight at the camera. We loved watching Sarah and Matt’s on-screen dynamic, and knowing that they are dating in real life made the movie even more cute!

The movie subtly taught a lesson that popularity isn’t everything, but whether Sarah’s character was trying to be the “it” girl at school, or she was being herself, she was easy to relate to, and so was Matt’s character. We would recommend this movie for anyone who is a fan of movies like “High School Musical” or “Prom.” And, we’re already hoping for a “Geek Charming 2″! What about you?

Enter below for your chance to win a copy of “Geek Charming” on DVD as well as a poster signed by none-other-than Sarah Hyland! Exciting!

Debby Ryan’s Disney Channel Original Movie “Radio Rebel” Premieres February 17, 2012

Debby Ryan’s Disney Channel Original Movie “Radio Rebel” will premiere on February 17, 2012! Here is the first promo for the movie:

The movie is based on the novel “Shrinking Violet.” Here’s a description of “Radio Rebel” from the Disney Channel:

“In ‘Radio Rebel,’ Ryan plays Tara Adams, an introverted high school junior who can’t bring herself to speak in class — and especially when the newly-popular rocker, Gavin, is in her midst. Tara can’t imagine anything more intimidating than when her drama teacher teams her in class with Gavin and his prom date, the school’s cliquish queen bee, Stacy. Her shyness at school notwithstanding, alone in her room at home, Tara casts herself as Radio Rebel and, as host of a nightly podcast, showcases her passion for music and self-expression and her message to abandon cliques and celebrate each other’s differences. Radio Rebel quickly gains fans on campus — especially when her show lands on a big, local radio station — much to the chagrin of the school’s principal who considers Radio Rebel and her message to be in clear defiance of the school’s ‘anti-distraction policy.’ Meanwhile, Gavin raves about the mysterious host and her taste in music but still, shy Tara – now oddly jealous of her alter-ego – can barely finish a sentence in front of him. As students clamor to learn the identity of Radio Rebel and the show’s popularity extends across Seattle, Tara’s two worlds begin to collide, reaching an apex when Radio Rebel is nominated prom-queen and the school, in turn, bans prom, causing a backlash from her fans. Now, Tara wrestles with two even bolder moves — organizing an alternative to the prom and revealing that she is Radio Rebel.”
