Disney is still looking for the next voice of their newest princess “Moana” and maybe they are getting a bit closer to making a decision.
Makamae Kailani Auwae a native of Maui, Hawaii, made an audition video for the upcoming Disney animated film “Moana,” in December. Then last week the 19-year-old singer received a callback notice via e-mail from Disney producers asking her to attend a live audition in Los Angeles, California.
Makamae was going to be in Los Angeles for the next couple of months and the Disney folks thought since she would be there anyway, a live audition would be the best thing to do.
She will have to perform two scenes from the film in front of the producers. To prepare for the audition Makamae said that she began watching the old Disney films that she grew up with for inspiration.
Disney’s “Moana” will be based on the adventures of a 14-year-old Polynesian girl, so Makamae’s background would be a good fit.
Watch the audition below and let us know if you think Makamae would make a good “Moana.”
We wish Makamae the best and congratulations on her callback!
