Kevin Smith, who has worked with Miramax Films, was kicked off of a Southwest Airlines flight today because he was deemed “too fat” for the seats.
Kevin was headed back to Burbank, California from Oakland when the captain asked him to leave the flight after being seated already, as he was considered a “safety risk.”
Kevin, who is known for his role as “Silent Bob” in the Jay and Silent Bob movie franchise, chose to not be so silent today as he took to Twitter to vent about his experience with the airline.
“Dear @SouthwestAir, I flew out in one seat, but right after issuing me a standby ticket, Oakland Southwest attendant Suzanne (wouldn’t give last name) told me Captain Leysath deemed me a “safety risk”. Again: I’m way fat… But I’m not THERE just yet. But if I am, why wait til my bag is up, and I’m seated WITH ARM RESTS DOWN. In front of a packed plane with a bunch of folks who’d already I.d.ed me as ‘Silent Bob.’”
Kevin also dropped a LOST reference when he Tweeted:
“Dear Other Airlines (including Oceanic, sans Flight 815): I’m in the market for a flight east this Thurs. Which one of you likes fat people?”
Kevin refused a $100 voucher offered by the airline and later took another Southwest flight that did not deem him to be a safety risk.
He Tweeted the picture above when he was seated on the second plane along with “Look how fat I am on your plane! Quick! Throw me off!”
Southwest airlines has apologized to Kevin on Twitter, and through a blog post, but it doesn’t sound like he’s interested in accepting their apology any time soon.
