Walt Disney Studios is releasing Disney Mania 7 to stores on March 9th. The album includes some of our favorite Disney Stars including Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Mitchel Musso and Debby Ryan.
Below is our review of each song on the album. Once you listen to the CD we would love to hear your own review!
1. “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from new Hollywood Records band, Allstar Weekend
This song was originally from Disney’s “The Lion King” movie and was written by Elton John and Tim Rice. We really like Allstar Weekend’s remake of the song – it might not be as powerful as the original version, but this song is much easier to dance to!
We think the guitar in this song really helps to make it sound more like a typical Allstar Weekend song and it makes this song a great one to listen to while driving in the car with the windows down!
2. “Trust in Me” – from Selena Gomez, star of the Disney Channel Series “Wizards of Waverly Place”
This is the most interesting song we have heard from Selena Gomez. The original song can be found in the Disney movie “The Jungle Book,” and was written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman.
In the movie the evil snake, Kaa, sings the song “Trust in Me” to Mowgli – and we think Selena has the perfect voice for the song, even though we can’t picture her being one bit evil!
The sound effects added to the song give it that extra punch that you need to make it sound edgy and dangerous. Love it!
3. “Real Gone” from Hollywood Records band, Honor Society
A great guitar start to this song makes you excited to keep listening before Honor Society even begins singing! The song originally appeared in the Disney/Pixar movie “Cars” and was surprisingly written by Sheryl Crow and John Shanks.
We think this was a great choice for Honor Society and we’re glad it is included on the Disney Mania 7 album.
4. “If I Never Knew You” from Tiffany Thornton, star of the Disney Channel series “Sonny With A Chance”
This song came from the Disney movie “Pocahontas” and was written by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Tiffany was the perfect choice for this song as she is able to put in all the feeling that the song deserves as it was originally written about the courageous Disney character Pocahontas and her love for John Smith.
If you are a fan of Disney’s “Pocahontas” you are going to want to pick up a copy of Disney Mania 7 and Tiffany’s version of “If I Never Knew You.”
5. “Stand Out” from Mitchl Musso, star of the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana”
Alright, first off, we love Mitchel. However, we love him even more that he sung the song “Stand Out” from “A Goofy Movie.”
The song was orignally written by Patrick DeRemer and Roy Freeland.
This is a great song for Mitchel, with drums, guitars and a bouncy tune that makes you jump up and down. Now all we can cross our fingers for is Mitchel performing this song in front of a live audience, because that would rock!
6. “Good Enough” from Walt Disney Records’ rockers, KSM
KSM sings the song “Good Enough” from the movie “The Wild.” The song was originally written by Jason Wade.
This is a very different sound than we are used to hearing from KSM. When we think of the all-girl band we think of strong, rock/pop music, so hearing something much, much slower from them is very cool! Great job ladies!
7. “Little Wonders” from Savannah
Yeay! A song from one of our favorite movies “Meet the Robinsons”! Savannah sings the song “Little Wonders” with such compassion we can’t help but smile as we listen to it.
The song was originally written by Rob Thomas.
Savannah’s version of the song is so strong and pays the perfect amount of respect to the original version. Definitely one of our favorite songs on the Disney Mania 7 album.
8. “Under the Sea” from Booboo Stewart
Alright, if you can listen to this song without getting up and dancing, you’re crazy! Not only do we love Boo Boo Stewart, but we love, love, love his singing ability! Definitely one of the best songs on the CD!
Boo Boo sings the song “Under the Sea” originally from one of our favorite Classic Disney Movies “The Little Mermaid.” The song was originally written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
Great, great, GREAT job Boo Boo! You can watch Boo Boo perform “Under the Sea” live here.
9. “When She Loved Me” from Bridgit Mendler of the Disney Channel series “Good Luck Charlie”
Bridgit Mendler performs the song “When She Loved Me” from the movie Toy Story 2 – just in time to help promote the upcoming Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 movie!
We are impressed with Bridgit’s voice and highly recommend that if you like her as an actor you check out her singing ability on this album.
The song “When She Loved Me” was originally written by Randy Newman.
10. “Her Voice” from Drew Seeley
We love this song from Drew Seeley! The song appeared in The Little Mermaid on Broadway. The song was written by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, and it’s perfect for Drew’s voice!
We absolutely love that a new Little Mermaid song was created especially for the Broadway musical. Did you get to see the play when Drew was performing?
11. “Bella Notte” from Ruby Summer
Ruby Summer performs the song “Bella Notte” from the Disney movie “Lady and the Tramp.”
We love Ruby Summer’s take on the classic song, which was written by Sonny Burke and Peggy Lee. Ruby does a great job keeping this song a classic while revamping the sound to be a bit more upbeat!
12. “Part of Your World” from Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, co-star of the Disney Channel original movies “Camp Rock” and “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”
Anna Maria Perez de Tagle sings another great song from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” – “Part of Your World.” This is one of the Disney songs that we can sing from start to finish without looking at the lyrics!
Anna’s take on the song is different and fun and makes it much easier to dance to!
The song was originally written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
13. “What I’ve Been Looking For” from Alyson Stoner, co-star of the Disney Channel original movies “Camp Rock” and “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”
LOVE IT! We love that among all of these classic Disney movies a song from High School Musical was added to the Disney Mania 7 CD lineup. Alyson does a great job recreating one of our favorite HSM songs, which was written by Andy Dodd and Adam Watts.
14. “The Gift of a Friend” from Hollywood Records artist Demi Lovato
Every time we hear this song we get it stuck in our head for hours! Demi Lovato sings “The Gift of a Friend,” which she originally performed for Disney’s “Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure” movie.
Demi’s voice is so strong and this is a perfect song for her, which she helped to write along with Adam Watts and Andy Dodd.
15. “Hakuna Matata” from Debby Ryan, star of the Disney Channel series “Suite Life On Deck.”
LOVE! This is by far one of our favorite songs on the Disney Mania 7 album. Debby Ryan does an amazing job recreating the special song “Hakuna Matata” from Disney’s “The Lion King.”
The song was written by Elton John and Tim Rice and is one of Debby’s favorite Disney songs!
We love that Debby didn’t just stick with the original way the song sounded and instead added her own flair, which makes it great!
