“Modern Family” actress Sarah Hyland split from her “High School Musical: Senior Year” boyfriend Matt Prokop after he was reportedly physically abusive. A judge ordered that Matt stay away from his ex-girlfriend for the next 3 years.
In order to continue protecting herself, Sarah has hired a bodyguard to travel everywhere with her. In addition to being escorted around town by her bodyguard, she also has him tail her at work to make sure she stays safe.
Matt has not updated his Twitter account since August.
Sarah Hyland and Matt Prokop broke up recently, and things didn’t go well. According to reports that Sarah filed she had her “Modern Family” co-star Julie Bowen there as support as she told Matt she wanted to end their relationship, and Julie witnessed when Matt “ran outside into the backyard and began screaming.”
Sarah filed a restraining order against Matt stating that he had been verbally and physically abusive during their time together. The documents state that at one point Matt choked her over an outfit she was wearing. Sarah wrote:
“His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life.”
Sarah’s documents stated that after their split Matt “relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats.”
Matt also threatened to burn one of Sarah’s homes and take her dog.
When Sarah decided to end the relationship she bought a plane ticket for Matt so he could go back to his home in Texas. However, Matt decided to enter rehab instead.
Matt left rehab on September 21st and the director of the facility urged Sarah to file the restraining order after speaking with Matt.
