Taylor Swift has become the first woman ever to replace herself at number one on Billboard. It was just announced yesterday, November 19, that Taylor’s new single “Blank Space” has taken the top spot. Making her the first woman to replace herself at the number one spot on the Hot 100 in all of the chart’s 50-plus year history.
“Shake It Off,” Taylor’s first single from her new album “1989,” had been number one on the chart last week. It now sits in the number three spot while “Blank Space” has taken over the number one spot.
So far this year Taylor is the only performer to have two number one hits. “Blank Space” actually has made the biggest leap so far in 2014 moving from number thirteen to number one in one week.
Taylor has another reason to be happy, her new album “1989” has just surpassed the two million sales mark, in just three weeks! So far only two singles have been released from the album, so there will probably be more hits to come when they release other singles from the CD.
Hopefully Taylor wasn’t too upset losing her number one spot to herself! Congratulations Taylor!
