Taylor Swift’s new music video for “Blank Space” has been viewed 25 million times and it was just released 3 days ago!
Taylor also created a new app for all her fans to get more content from the video. The app will give fans access to an immersive, interactive version of her new video. It turns the mansion and the grounds into a videogame-like setting that lets the player explore. Taylor and her man can go into 6 different rooms inside the mansion. There are also around 40 Easter eggs scattered throughout for you to discover.
Taylor has been hard at work promoting her new album “1989,” but she managed to take some time for herself on Tuesday November 11th.
Taylor was at Nobu in New York City for a ladies night out with friends Kelly Osbourne and Chrissy Teigen.
Kelly posted the picture below on Instagram with this caption,
#GirlsNightOut @taylorswift @chrissyteigen Seriously had the best night ever
Recently Taylor Swift criticized Spotify, a music streaming service and then went on to pull all of her music off the site.
Here is what Taylor had to say in a recent interview with Yahoo! Music,
If I had streamed the new album, it’s impossible to try to speculate what would have happened. But all I can say is that music is changing so quickly, and the landscape of the music industry itself is changing so quickly, that everything new, like Spotify, all feels to me a bit like a grand experiment. And I’m not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists, and creators of this music. And I just don’t agree with perpetuating the perception that music has no value and should be free.
On Tuesday, Spotify chief executive Daniel Ek responded in a blog post. He wrote that the streaming service is paying more than $2 billion in royalties.
He then went on to say,
We started Spotify because we love music and piracy was killing it. So all the talk swirling around lately about how Spotify is making money on the backs of artists upsets me big time.
Unfortunately, the reason most musicians don’t see as much money as they could, is because of the middlemen. These middlemen are the record labels and the publishers, they often take a big percentage of the royalties paid out by the streaming services.
Spotify said that it pays out 70% of its revenue to the music rights holders and if Taylor Swift had kept her music on the site, she would probably make around $6 million dollars!
$6 million is a lot of money, but because of the middlemen, Taylor would not have seen anywhere near that amount.
