Zac Efron sat down for an interview to not only promote “The Lorax,” but also to explain why he decided to join the cast of the animated film. The movie comes to theaters on March 2, 2012 and is based on the book by Dr. Seuss.

Zac Efron spoke with Access Hollywood about his character in the movie “The Lorax.” The “High School Musical” actor came into the studio to film his characters’ voice just after wrapping filming on “The Lucky One,” and it was a much different experience for him. Zac revealed:

Zac Efron was planning on starring in the movie “The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman” after Shia LaBeouf dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Now however, it seems the scheduling conflicts are Zac’s and Shia has come back on board for the film.

According to IMDB the movie will release in 2013, but we find that hard to believe if it hasn’t even begun filming yet, but we’ll see! Here’s a brief description of the film from IMDB:

According to a report from X17 the duo were seen leaving a steakhouse in Los Angeles, California recently, and while Zac bolted for his car when the duo were done dining, Lily took her time making her way from the restaurant into the very same car – so everyone saw her!

Lily previously dated Taylor Lauter, who has also been linked to Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.
