Born Demetria Devonne Lovato August 20, 1992 in Dallas, Texas, Demi, as she’s known, plays Sonny Munroe on the Disney Channel’s Original Series “Sonny With a Chance”. Demi grew up with mother Diana Lovato, a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and country recording artist, father Patrick Lovato, older sister Dallas, and younger half-sister Madison.
Demi began her acting career like her friend Selena Gomez on “Barney & Friends” with a recurring role as Angela on seasons 7 and 8. In 2006 she had guest starring roles in television series like “Prison Break” and “Just Jordan”. In 2007 she landed a recurring role in the Disney Channels Original Short Series “As the Bell Rings” as Charlotte. Alongside the Jonas Brothers in 2008, Demi starred as Mitchie Torres in Camp Rock. Demi also began starring in the lead role as Sonny on the Disney Channel’s Original Series “Sonny With a Chance” around this time. She is also set to reprise her role as Mitchie in Camp Rock 2, due out in 2009.
Demi will star alongside Selena in Disney’s made-for-TV movie Princess Protection Program, and will soon have her own Disney show titled Sonny With A Chance.
Demi also released her debut album, Don’t Forget, in 2008 with Hollywood Records. The album debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top 200. She was the opening act for the Jonas Brothers on their Burning Up Tour. Demi also plays guitar, piano, and writes her own songs.
Demi also makes a surprise appearance in Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.
