Jesse McCartney

Jesse McCartney Disney

Jesse Abraham Arthur McCartney was born on April 9, 1987 in Ardsley, New York. An only child to Scott and Ginger, the twenty-one year old Jesse is most famously known for his hit song, Beautiful Soul. Jesse has made appearances as himself on hit Disney Channel Original Series like “Hannah Montana” and “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” but he has focused much of his career on his music.

Jesse began performing at the age of seven in local community musicals and by the age of ten went on a national tour for The King and I. When Jesse was eleven, his family packed up and moved to Los Angeles. Shortly after arriving, Jesse landed a recurring role on the soap opera, “All My Children” from 1998-2001. He even earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for his role as Adam Chandler Jr.

During that time as well, Jesse joined the boy band group, Dream Street, in 1999. The group earned a gold record and toured with Aaron Carter. However, the band formed around the time that the teen pop scene was dying down and broke up a few years later. In 2004, Jesse landed a role in the new television series, “Summerland” playing opposite Lori Loughlin. The show only aired for two seasons but paved the way to Jesse’s solo singing career when he put out his first album, Beautiful Soul, which shot to #15 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was also certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

In 2005, Jesse won Choice Crossover Artist, Choice Breakout, Male, and Choice Mail Artist at the Teen Choice Awards. In May, Jesse kicked off his tour of the U.S. and Australia and opened for the Backstreet Boys in Europe.

Releasing his second album in 2006, Jesse co-wrote a number of songs and once again, his album reached #14 on Billboard 200. Just this past year, Jesse released his third album, Departure, which represents a departure from his early songs, showing more mature themes. His first single, Leavin, reached #10 on Billboard Hot 100 and has been certified platinum. Jesse promoted his third album on a co-headlining tour with Jordin Sparks in August 2008.

Aside from his own songs, Jesse also co-wrote the hit song, Bleeding Love, with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. The song was performed by Leona Lewis and nominated for Record of the Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards. Impressed by his talents, “American Idol’s” judge, Simon Cowell, asked Jesse and Ryan to write songs for future Idols.

Jesse has also lent his voice to the animated film Horton Hears a Who! as JoJo McDodd. In 2007, Jesse also provided the voice of Theodore in Alvin and the Chipmunks and is set to do the same in the movie’s upcoming sequel.

Aside from his singing and acting talents, Jesse has been to give back. In 2005, Jesse became a supporter of Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit organization that provides free musical instruments and lessons to public schools throughout the United States. He is also a spokesperson for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and donated a part of the proceeds from his 2005 tour to a disaster relief fund. So not only is Jesse extremely talented, he is also extremely generous and caring.
