Nicholas Jerry Jonas was born on September 16, 1992 in Dallas, Texas. Nick’s career started before the rest of the brothers when he performed on Broadway at the age of seven. He performed in such plays as A Christmas Carol, Annie Get Your Gun, Beauty and the Beast, and Les Miserables.
In 2002, while performing in Beauty and the Beast, Nick co-wrote a song with father called “Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)”. He performed the song on the 2002 annual Broadway “Equity Fights AIDS” album. When INO Records heard the demo in 2003, they released the song to Christian radio.
In 2004, an executive at Columbia Records heard his song and Nick was signed on jointly with both Columbia Records and INO Records. Nick released two singles, “Dear God” and “Joy to the World (A Christmas Prayer)”. Nick recorded a number of songs with plans to release his first solo album, however the album was pushed back. When new Columbia Records president Steve Greenburg listened to Nick’s album in 2005, of which Kevin and Joe sang backup vocals and guitar, he decided to sign the three brothers as a group act.
In 2008, Nick and his brothers appeared in an episode of “Hannah Montana” on the Disney Channel and broke basic cable records with 10.7 million viewers. Nick also appeared alongside his brothers in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock playing the role of Nate, a guitarist, in 2008.
At the age of thirteen, Nick was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. Since then, he has developed the Change for the Children Foundation, partnering with five different charities they raise money and awareness for diabetes.
Nick Jonas is often viewed as the favorite of the Jonas Brothers group, which include his older brothers Joe and Kevin. Nick was the musically inclined brother, not only singing, but also playing guitar, drums, and the piano.
Nick has dated Disney stars Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez.
Nick has also acted alongside his brothers, including youngest brother Frankie (the Bonus Jonas), in the upcoming movie Walter The Farting Dog and in the Disney television series J.O.N.A.S. Nick will be touring with the JoBros band the summer on their world tour.
