Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, president of the company Studio Ghibli, has announced his retirement. Hayao revealed that he still plans to spend time at Studio Ghibli to oversee projects, but that he will no longer be in charge of directing feature films.
Hayao said during a press conference:
[I would] like to work for at least 10 more years, but I think that making feature films is no longer my job. I’m going to be free. At the same time, as long as I can drive my car to the studio, I’ll go. If there are things I want to do, then I will.
We’re sure Hayao will be a part of all of the upcoming Studio Ghibli films in some capacity!
