If you loved Chris Evans in Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger” then get excited! A sequel movie has just been announced with a release date of April 4, 2014. According to Walt Disney Studios, the movie will pick up right where “The Avengers” leaves off “as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.” Marvel’s “The Avengers” arrives in theaters on May 4, 2012.
Marvel’s “Captain America 2″ movie will begin filming later this year, which will make it possible for the movie to come out in 2014 as expected. Here’s what actor Neal McDonough told MovieWeb about the sequel to “Captain America,”
Yeah, they’re planning (to go into production for) Captain America 2 for the end of this year, because Marvel does one film at a time. So they’re going to do Thor 2 and as soon as Thor has wrapped, they’ll do Cap 2.
Neal also told MovieWeb that there might be a Nick Fury film in the future!
Hopefully right after that, we’ll jump into Nick Fury because that’s the one I’m looking forward to more than anything, because it’ll be me and Sam Jackson. In the real Marvel universe, Dum Dum Dugan is Nick Fury’s right hand man. I just pray that they have a 1970s setting, because I want to see Sam Jackson with lambchops kicking people’s a**es for Marvel universe. It would just be awesome. And to work with Sam would be a treat. We’ve become friendly over the years.

Marvel’s “The Avengers” writer and director Joss Whedon did an interview with Entertainment Weekly, which is in the current issue on newsstands, in which he spoke about which character we’ll see the most from in the new movie. Turns out fans should expect the movie to play out from the eyes of Captain America!
I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie. So that’s what my movie has to be about. So much of [The Avengers] story takes place from Steve Rogers’ [Captain America] perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird-a** world. Everyone else has been living in it. He’s the guy that feels that sense of loss. [The Avengers] is very much about people who are alone – because I’m writing it. [Captain America] is kind of the ultimate loner in that way. There is an anachronism to him, and Chris and I have always tried to make it, without making it goofy or too obvious, always tried to make him that same grounded ’40s Steve Rogers he was in the other movie.
